Different Types of Scanners

Scanners are important thing for a office or business to digitizing of bills or receipts, documents and photos etc. You can save a digital image of your documents in your computer or storage devices with the help of scanners. You can find various types of scanners in the market. They vary in design, size and capacity. Every scanner has its merits and demerits because each scanner cannot fulfill all your requirements. Some scanners are very small in size, that’s why they can’t scan a big size document or photo. With scanners you can save picture of scanning document or photo in your computer by attaching scanner with computer. There are different scanners for every purpose.

Flatbed Scanners

Flatbed scanners are useful for artwork like printing of 3D objects, photos, books and some other objects like film negatives. These are almost like photocopiers. Flatbed scanners are a box shaped with a glass sheet on the top for scanning. Scanning process is done by moving CCD array which travels through the length of the glass sheet. Flatbed Scanners are very large in size and take too much space in contrast to other scanners.

Sheetfed Scanners

Sheetfeds are very large in size but small in contrast to flatbed scanners and more portable. It can contain number of sheets in its tray that’s why these are called Sheetfed scanners. It scans sheets one after another so these are very useful when you need to scan number of sheets at a time. It also saves time because you don’t need to put different sheets one by one. Sheetfed scanners do it automatically but you cannot scan book with these scanners. These are useful where low resolution scanning is required. These are consists of USB port for power which increase their portability.

Photo Scanners

Photo scanners are specially made to scan photos with high resolution. These scanners give best results where highly detailed images are required from scanning. These are small in size and portable. These scanners take less space on table.

Film and Slide Scanners

Film and Slide Scanners are useful for photographers to scan film negatives because films require more density of colors and contrasts. These are small in size and easily adjust on desktop. Film scanners give high quality scanning results because of higher optical resolution. You can get resolution of 8000 dpi from high quality film scanners.

Portable Scanners

Scanners which you can carry anywhere are portable scanners. Sheetbed scanners, photo scanners, pen scanners, handheld scanners, document scanners, receipt scanners, barcode scanners etc. are examples of portable scanners. Every small size lightweight scanner with USB power port is portable.

Receipt Scanners

Receipt scanners are used to scan receipts or bills. These scanners are also useful to organize and sort your business receipts in a specific order which saves time, manpower and money. After scanning you can save your files in any storage device for future use. Receipt scanners are very convenient because these make your work easy and keep your table clean from receipts and bills. These scanners are portable due to USB power port and USB data port. By saving your receipts and invoices in a storage device you don’t need to save paper receipts in your table drawer for future. It really makes your work easy to maintain.
